Robinson in the honours thanks to runner-up spot

Noel Robinson from Portadown celebrated his past season with silverware at the Formula Renault 1 prize night.

Robinson came home as runner-up thanks to a strong campaign as part of the Magic Bullet Motorsports team.

The trophy was presented by BOSS Ireland chairman Dave Smyth.

“I will be racing again with Magic Bullet Motorsports in the 2016 season,” said Robinson. “We start in April and have rounds planned at Kirkistown, Bishopscourt and Mondello.

“I also plan to be racing our Formula Ford at Kirkistown in the Northern Ireland Championship.

MOTORCYCLING

A fun run has been organised by Tandragee 100 Supporters’ Club officials.

The event on Sunday, April 17 will also include a buffet - with entry for the 100-mile ride £10 or 10 euros per person.

The fundraiser is scheduled to start from Tandragee Recreation Centre car park at 10.30. Tandragee Rovers Football Club’s Madden Road will host the buffet and prize draw.

“The club aim is to keep the Tandragee 100 motorcycle race as a major event in the road racing calendar,” said a spokesman for the Tandragee 100 Supporters’ Club. “We meet the last Wednesday of every month and would encourage more people to join.

“Throughout the year we run ride outs and raffles, plus attend events such as the Northern Ireland Motorcycle Festival.

“We contribute to the North Armagh Motorcycle and Car Club and assist in whatever way possible to the running of the Tandragee 100.”

All bikes, trikes, sidecars and scooters are welcome on the April 17 ride out.

QUADS

Riders from the region have sights set on March 28 as the opening meeting of the United Quad Racing Ireland campaign.

The club, formed in January 2014, can boast an 11-date schedule from March to October.

Additions to the roster for 2016 include sections for the under 18s’ 200/250cc and 250/700cc machines to line out alongside the 50cc, 80cc, 100cc, 200cc and 250cc groups.

The full calendar is as follows: March 28, April 16, May 7, May 21, June 11, June 25, August 6, August 20, August 21, September 3, September 17 and October 15.
