Tir na nOg off the mark with first success of season

Tir na nOg posted a first league success of the season with victory against Carrickcruppen by 4-15 to 3-8.

The free-scoring fixture in Ballyoran left Carrickcruppen first on target before Tir na nOg claimed control.

Brian Mallon led the way with one goal and eight points in front of a vocal home support.

Pauddy Judge grabbed the game’s first goal, with Conan Judge and Paul Carvill also posting points alongside Johnny McGurgan and Chris McDonald.

A strong finish to the first half featured a second goal for Pauddy Judge, plus key contributions by Mallon.

Carrickcruppen hit back after the break but Mallon and Conor McCormac added impressive points, with Anthony Smith sharp between the posts. Barry McDonald’s superb individual goal proved the second-half highlight.

Annaghmore’s derby date with Maghery finished in defeat by 2-14 to 1-11.

High-flying Maghery managed to hold the upper hand at half-time and the final whistle.

Oisin MacIomhair, Conor McCann and Daniel McQuade put up first-half points for Annaghmore - however, a Maghery run of scoring proved decisive.

Both goalkeepers proved sharp but two goals in quick succession left Maghery out in front against determined Annaghmore.

Conor McCann, Oisin MacIomhair, Owen McCormack, Matthew Willis, Michael McConville and John McCormack provided Annaghmore’s second-half points.
