Colin Turkington’s adjustment to life in Team BMR colours continued at Donington Park last weekend with a race win the pick of the positives.
A close-season switch from West Surrey Racing handed the Portadown driver a fresh challenge for the defence of his British Touring Car Championship title.
Turkington now sits second overall, just two points off leader Matt Neal after six races.
Turkington steered his Volkswagen CC to pole position in qualifying before securing the final podium position in race one.
The second outing of the weekend left Turkington in top spot for the first time with Team BMR.
His final race, the reverse-grid appearance, finished with 11th.

“I am delighted with how things have gone and the challenge of moving to Team BMR has certainly put extra fire in my belly,” said Turkington. “It is a family team similar to West Surrey Racing so that has helped me settle, with everyone superb from day one.
“We have been working really hard and the time spent adjusting my style to suit the front-wheel drive car has been really encouraging.
“I am looking forward to building on this positive start and last weekend we all got to enjoy the fruits of our labour.

The next meeting will be at Thruxton on May 9 and 10.
