Ballyhegan bag goals on way to key league victory over Killeavey

Ballyhegan brushed past the challenge of Killeavy seconds with success by 2-12 to 0-12.

Killeavy kicked off the scoring but Tiernan Power, Conal McKeever and James McKeever posted points.

Mark Hughes, Jack Rafferty, James McKeever, Rory McKeever, Paddy Marley and Paul Nixon proved key as Ballyhegan entered half-time with a slender lead.

Jack Rafferty and Conal McKeever provided early points after the interval before Ballyhegan claimed control thanks to Mark Hughes’ free and a Paul Nixon goal.

Paddy Marley’s personal contribution of a point and goal helped to strengthen the Ballyhegan position before Conal McKeever closed out the locals’ scoring.


Tir na nOg seniors registered a welcome Division 1B league win over Forkhill to bounce back from back-to-back league defeats.

A Forkhill side bolstered by county representatives took the lead but Tir na nOg converted a penalty plus added to the tally thanks to a slick team move.

Shea McGleenan’s hard work helped Tir na nOg sit clear by 4-3 to 0-6 at half-time.

A strong team performance allowed Tir na nOg to build on the lead after the break for the 5-12 to 1-9 final margin of victory.

Tir na nOg under 10s met Wolfe Tones as part of the Go-Games programme at Ballyoran.

The club minors - including six members of the under 16s - enjoyed victory over St Peter’s in the closing test ahead of the Division Two split.

Tir na nOg held a two-point lead at half-time before the Portadown players turned the tables on a deficit thanks to Connor Kearns and AJ Pereiro da Silva.

The lotto numbers are 2, 10, 15 and 20 -w ith winners Paul Cullen, Dwayne Quinn and Seamus McCann.

Irish Dancing continues each Tuesday and Thursday from 6.30-8 o’clock.

Annaghmore seniors face Dromintee in Pearse Park on Sunday from 2 o’clock.
