Last weekend’s 62-19 reverse by Dublin Rebels closed down Cowboys’ pursuit of silverware in the Irish American Football League at the Wildcard play-off.
A move into this season’s semi-final stages would have handed Cowboys a shot at adding to the Shamrock Bowl haul enjoyed during the club’s 1980s glory days.
However, the modern project remains on course for success and club president Greg Loughran highlights youth development as the way forward.
“It was a disappointing end to our campaign on Sunday but we managed to score three times against Rebels for the first time and limited one of the best quarter-backs in the competition,” said Loughran, who also operates as head coach. “Now we look to the next step and the introduction of a team for 16-19 year olds.
“We have maybe eight or 10 on the books now and want more, with everyone welcome to attend any Sunday training session at Chambers Park.
“We welcome anyone interested in finding out more about the sport, each week from 1-3 o’clock.”
