The Grimsby rider missed last weekend’s Cookstown 100 after holding a provisional entry in the Classic race, but Martin took part in practice for the Co. Armagh road race on his BSA Rocket machine on Friday.

He qualified eighth fastest, 7.9 seconds back on pole man John Pemberton, with Martin only managing three laps before he was reported as a retirement.

The 37-year-old last raced at the event in 2017 as part of his preparations for the Isle of Man TT after he signed for Honda Racing, joining Morecambe’s John McGuinness in the team to ride the Fireblade SP2.
