Back-to-back wins and a third-place finish to close out the weekend Snetterton schedule left Turkington celebrating 60 points as reward for his superb form.

The defending British champion now holds top spot entering the closing meeting of the campaign at Brands Hatch Indy over November 14/15.

Extra points also arrived on top of wins number 55 and 56 in his British Touring Cars Championship career for leading laps, pole position and fastest laps.

“When you lift your mobile phone at the end of the day and it’s going berserk with messages and notifications you know it’s been a good day,” said the four-time British champion on his official website. “It gives me a lot of satisfaction knowing I’ve done a good job and delivered my maximum, but that’s it over.

“I don’t bask in the glory for long because the next race comes quickly.

“I never get tired of standing on the podium and hearing the National Anthem, those are the moments I do it for.

“For sure, it will be nice to arrive at Brands feeling confident in both myself and the car after Snetterton.

“I will prepare and ready myself to the maximum and then try to give my best performance on the day.

“There is a lot of extra pressure on the finale, but I kind of really enjoy it.

“It’s a huge privilege to be involved and I love the chance to fight for another Championship.

“In any sport or walk of life you have to be resilient.

“We will all make mistakes, but it’s about learning the lessons from that and going to the next race with a positive mindset.

“I try to talk to myself rather than listen to myself and I find that really helps me.

“I tell my kids going to school, “fail to prepare, prepare to fail” and I sort of live by that motto when it comes to racing too.

“The engagement (of the fans) has been off the scale recently, it’s so rewarding that as a Championship we are bringing so much joy and happiness to people’s lives in such a difficult year.

“The best reaction I had was after race two at Snetterton from one of my youngest fans, my little boy Adam, he said to me “Daddy, you’re my hero”!

“I think that’s better than any trophy I’ve ever taken home.”
