Talent trials in Craigavon


A Talent ID Day organised by The Canoe Association Of Northern Ireland will take place on June 21 at Craigavon Watersports Centre.

The ambition is to highlight potential in the borough and positions remain open on the canoe sprint and canoe slalom selection squads.

Sessions will run from 10-4 o’clock at the cost of £10 - with equipment provided.

The Talent ID Day is open to enthusiasts aged 10-18 years old.

“We are looking for future Olympic stars,” said a spokesperson for The Canoe Association Of Northern Ireland. “You must love being outdoors and have basic

paddling experience.

“Those highlighted must be able to commit to a long-term training programme.”


Portadown Ladies’ Hockey Club players will face Ballymoney in the Veterans’ Ulster Cup quarter-finals on Saturday, June 6.


Citypark Parkrun Craigavon club members had a special guest for the recent meeting.

Paul Sinton-Hewitt - who was awarded the CBE for his role in the formation of Parkrun during 2004 - offered support to the Craigavon Lakes event.

The Craigavon Couch To 5K challenge attracted almost 230 participants.

Club sessions operate each Saturday at Craigavon Watersports Centre from 9 o’clock.
