Laurelvale’s weekend reaction to a first defeat of the season will help establish the Villagers’ true long-term credentials.
Early-season progress across league and cup play suffered a setback with a nine-wicket reverse at Holywood.
Unbeaten Cliftonville visit Laurelvale tomorrow (Saturday) and captain David Sinton is calling for a positive response.
“We did not get too carried away with our great start and it would be daft to panic after last weekend’s bad result at Holywood,” said Sinton. “I am interested in how we deal with the reality of what went wrong against Holywood and how we ended up with such a tough defeat.
“We were put in to bat and the Holywood bowlers delivered but we also struggled to adjust and adapt to conditions which maybe looked fine but had variable bounce.
“Outside of the result, I want us to produce an improved performance against Cliftonville.”
