Marcio Soares grabbed two goals in as many NIFL Reserve League appearances.

The young striker, now established within the senior squad, was on target along with another player with first-team experience - Jake Richardson - in a 2-0 victory over Glenavon.

Monday’s derby date against Dungannon Swifts featured Soares on the scoresheet plus Nathaniel Ferris and Nedas Maciulaitis - marking three scorers with the benefits of promotion up to the senior ranks.

The thirds recovered from a midweek 3-1 defeat in NIFL Youth League Section A at Ballymena United by beating Ballyclare Comrades Colts on Saturday.

Mark McCullough was the scorer against Ballymena - with Portadown defeating Ballyclare at Shamrock Park by 6-2.

Zak Crooks, Jackson Nesbitt, Adam Brown, Luke Wilson, Thomas Aston and Peter Campbell each found the net on Saturday.

The thirds wrap up the season tomorrow (Saturday) at Shamrock Park from 11 o’clock against Dungannon Swifts Youth.

Three Portadown Youth teams will tackle Northern Ireland Boys’ Football Association finals across today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) in Cookstown’s Mid-Ulster Sports Arena.

The under 12s and under 17s face, respectively, Cookstown and Dungannon Swifts tonight from 6.45 and 7.30.

The under 14s meet Dungannon Youth tomorrow (Saturday) from 3.15.
