Success for Inst at NEBSSA Tournament

TWO squads of 15 players took part in the NEBSSA Year 8 Rugby Tournament at Rainey Endowed last Monday.

The first team beat Carrick by five tries and then Larne by seven tries and in their last match of the group defeated Dalriada by four scores to one. This took the first team to the semi-final where they dispatched of Ballymena four scores to nil and this meant they were in the final against the host team Rainey.

In a competitive match Coleraine Inst emerged winners by three scores to nil, which meant Inst retained the trophy.The second team played against some A teams from schools like Downshire and Sperrin, as well as against a second team from Larne Grammar.

The CAI second team lost to Downshire and then defeated Antrim and Sperrin to go into the third place play off where they defeated Larne second team by three scores to one.

This was a fine performance by both teams to play so many competitive games in a short period of time and in scoring so many tries and only one try being scored against them.
