We’ve got The Power

LOCAL darts fans are in for a real treat after it was confirmed that 16-time World Champion Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor will pay a special visit to the north coast next month.

Taylor, who will be accompanied by two time world champ Denis ‘The Menace’ Priestley, will take on local darts players in a special event at the Magherabuoy House Hotel, before the duo face off against each other in a special exhibition game on February 16th.

This is a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity to get up close and personal with the most successful darts player in the history of the sport.

A spokesperson from NI Live Events, the team behind the hugely successful White Collar Boxing events who are promoting the event, said: “We were contemplating a darts event later in the year as we are aware how popular it is at the minute.

“Then last Monday we received a phone call offering us Phil Taylor and Denis Priestley. As Phil has just won his 16th World Championship we jumped at the chance to bring such a legend to the north coast. The Magherabuoy House Hotel is a great venue for this event due to the layout of the room. We will be able to produce a live five camera mix of the event and project it onto screens around the venue. That, coupled with professional darts staging and electronic scoreboard set-up, will give this event the feeling of the world championship finals.

“The last time Phil Taylor played Northern Ireland was at the Odyssey in Belfast in front of 7000 people, so this really will be an intimate event.

“There are two types of tickets for sale - general admission tickets are £20 each and we also have a limited number of VIP tickets.

“The VIP tickets are very special as they will enable you to have a private pre-show meet and greet with the two World Champions as well as the opportunity of going head to head with one of them for a game live on the night. Also, as part of your VIP ticket you will receive a digital copy of a photograph of you and the World Champion, a highlights DVD of the evening with your match and some of the best seats in the house.

“To take on one of these World Champions you do not have to be of world class quality but just able to hit the board. Who knows, it could be your night and you could beat a world champion!

“The atmosphere is set to be electric with large screens and sound system and we encourage people, just like at the World Championships, to get into the spirit and dress up. As we have limited tickets for this event we advise people to get theirs straight away as this event is set to sell out and sell out fast.

“Doors will open for the event at 7.30pm but the Magherabuoy House Hotel are putting on a special pre-event tea time menu costing £12 which includes a main course, dessert and drink. Preferential accommodation rates are also available for those travelling and wanting to stay overnight.”
