Acclaimed local theatre stars Gerard McCabe and Michael Condron launch Soda Bread Theatre Company with the Irish premiere of Borderland, taking place at Belfast Waterfront next Friday and Saturday (January 19 and 20.)
“So did you hear the story of the Johnstone twins? As like each other as two new pins.” And so begins the rollercoaster of emotion that is the smash hit musical Blood Brothers, which is making a welcome return to the Grand Opera House.
Over the next three months Belfast’s Grand Opera House will be enveloped in scaffolding while the brickwork of the exterior is cleaned, and the iconic masonry repainted. Throughout this time the Theatre will remain open and continue to welcome audience members as normal.
Tickets are on sale for what’s being billed as the biggest concert the Grand Opera House will have seen in a long time, featuring the combined voices of more than 15 local musical societies presenting ‘Sunday Night At The Musicals’.
It’s been an exciting year for Northern Ireland actor Kerry Rooney; he’s already been to Buckingham Palace to collect his MBE for services to older people and drama, and next week he will be recreating another rags to riches story in hit musical Me and My Girl.
